Pop Up
Windows & Page Hijacking
We work hard to keep this site popup free, If you do have them, it
was'nt from this site. If you ever encounter anything like that it
means that your computer has been tampered with, without your knowledge.
This most likely occured either when you downloaded a program which
installed "spyware" on your computer or you visited a site
that had a code in it that changed your settings silently.
To remove spyware
off your computer I suggest the following two programs that can
be downloaded for free from download.com:
Ad-aware
6.0
Spy
Bot Search & Destroy 1.2
There is also
a site that scans your computer for spyware and gives your information
on how to remove it. This is good to scan your computer quicky but
the programs above I would recommend you use to remove them.
Click
here to scan your computer.
Now the other
problem plaguing computers recently is a code that adds "host"
files to your computer and hijacks certain pages you visit and/or
adds pop-ups. This is easily removed by looking for a "hosts"
file in your windows directory and deleting it. The file is found
at these locations:
Win98:
c:\windows\hosts
W2k: c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
XP: c:\windows\system32\drivers\hosts
I highly recommend that you also download all the available Windows
& Internet Explorer patches because they should help you prevent
these problems from happening. Also be very cautious when installing
any programs unto your computer. Usually these "cool"
and "fun" programs like customized toolbars have some
sort of spyware attached to them.

If you're getting redirects and stuff even after you've done all
of the above, you should download Cool
Web Shredder and run it. This should solve the problem.
Automatic Image Resizing In IE 6.0
When you downloaded Internet Explorer 6.0 you may have noticed that
every "big" picture you load up automatically resizes
itself to fit into the browser. When I first got this I couldn't
believe they made this feature, very annoying in my opinion. Anyways
it's easy to turn off, just do this:
Go to "Tools"
> "Internet Options" > Click The "Advanced"
Tab > Scroll Down To "Multimedia" > Uncheck The
2nd Box That Says "Enable Automatic Image Resizing" >
Click "OK" |
